Music Factory Records presents 'Tropical Nites: Ursula 1000 Remix', the first single from the latest EP 'Tropical Nites: Remixes and Lost Tracks' from Roman Angelos.
Roman Angelos includes composer Rich Bennett on guitar, Brittany Anjou on vibraphone, Ben Zwerin on bass, Spencer Cohen on drums, Dennis Boolyoins on percussion, Rose Rutledge on flute, Kai Sandoval on trumpet, Nadav Nirenberg on trombone, with Deidre Rodman-Struck on piano.
Remixers on the upcoming EP include Ursula 1000, Blake Madden (of the band Hotels), and producer Scott Solter. Featured guest collaborators on the rarities tracks include piano/synth player Frank LoCrasto (Cass McCombs, Fruit Bats, Okkervil River) and Brazilian singer Mari Rosa (Limoncello).
Picking up on the tropical thread already laid down by Roman Angelos, Ursula 1000 delivers a remix of Tropical Nites that is the soundtrack to any poolside summer vacation. Opening with the sound of bird calls and ambient tropical environments, this remix calms the senses before kicking into a lounge/bossa house feel supported by female vocal samples and steel drums. The remix manages to be both uplifting and soothing at the same time - a perfect backdrop for either the dancefloor or a classy cocktail party.
According to composer and guitarist Rich Bennett, "I have been an admirer Of Ursula 1000’s work for a while now, hearkening back to the early 2000s. After I completed the Tropical Nites LP he was the main person I wanted to have do a remix of one of my tunes; I could think of no one better to understand the nature of this music while also bringing it into a new setting that has an appeal to a wider audience. Upon my first listen, when I heard the sounds of birds and ambient tropical sounds in the background, I knew that we had a spot-on killer song on our hands."
Tropical Nites: Ursula 1000 Remix will be available on vinyl for an extremely short run of 5 initial lathe records at live Roman Angelos shows this fall. Designed by the UK artist MJ Langthorne, this beautifully designed sleeve is a great addition to any vinyl collection - or a great way to start one off!
Roman Angelos is the nom de plume of Brooklyn-based producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Rich Bennett, developed as a vehicle to explore his obsession with library recordings of the 60's and 70s, muzak and exotica. Exotic, moody, and wistful, this is a classic septet sound imbued with the atmosphere of modern ambient music.
