Peter Daniel’s debut solo album Quartets is a powerful statement from one of the Pacific Northwest’s most versatile saxophonists. Known for his work as a sideman with artists like Lauryn Hill, Father John Misty, ODESZA, and a variety of regional projects including The True Loves, Polyrhythmics, Mega Cat, Funkways, and 45th St Brass, Daniel steps forward as a composer and bandleader with a collection that captures the depth and diversity of his musical world.

Backed by a rotating cast of Seattle’s finest rhythm sections, Quartets spans jazz, funk, soul, and cinematic grooves. Each track features a different ensemble, creating a rich, collaborative soundscape that reflects the spirit of the Pacific Northwest music scene. From the uplifting opener “Take A Little Chance” to the meditative sway of “Desperate Waltz” and the expansive energy of “Come Back Together” and its reprise, the album flows with purpose and soul.

Other standout tracks include the bluesy momentum of “Pedro Azul,” the syncopated layers of “Cliff’s Notes vol 3,” and the introspective closer “So Exciting.” With ten original compositions in total, Quartets is both deeply personal and rooted in community—a sonic journey built on years of live performance and creative connection.
